Planning Commission

The Planning Commission is responsible for reviewing proposed residential and commercial development projects, subdivisions, and land use requests on private property, to determine their compliance with applicable City regulations. The Planning Commission has authority to approve various development projects that comply with City requirements.

In addition, the Planning Commission makes recommendations to the City Council with respect to the City's General Plan, Zoning Code, Specific Plans and other matters related to development within the City.

The Planning Commission meets on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month at 6:00 PM in the Council Chambers of the La Cañada Flintridge City Hall. (Meeting Procedures)

Qualifications:  Each of the five (5) Commissioners shall be a resident of the City and shall be appointed by and serve at the pleasure of the City Council.  Members of the Planning Commission shall not serve on one of the City’s other seven (7) Commissions/Committees simultaneously (with the exception of the Joint Use Committee).  Other than City Council members, persons elected to any office may serve as a City Commissioner except as provided by Government Code section 1099 and/or any other applicable law.

Compensation:  Planning Commission Members receive a stipend of $50.00 per meeting, which they must be in attendance to receive.
