Sports Fields and Courts

Athletic Fields

The City operates, maintains, and schedules athletic fields use during non-school hours at several local schools through a joint use agreement with the La Cañada Unified School District.  The City also has a similar agreement with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to operate the field at 1830 Foothill Boulevard. Through these agreements, the City is able to provide field space to the various community sports groups for soccer, football, baseball, softball, etc.

On an annual basis, the City coordinates a master field use schedule with all of the community sports groups.  Through a process, the City allocate field permits to sports groups for their respective seasons.  The permit process ensures field use opportunity as well as prevents field use conflicts.  During non-permitted times, the fields are available to the public for use during non-school hours on a first come, first served basis.

Tennis Courts

Eight tennis courts are available to the public during non-school hours at 4490 Cornishon Avenue ( map )  through a joint-use agreement with the La Cañada Unified School District.  Hours typically are from 3:00 p.m. until dark on week-days and from 7:00 a.m. to dark on week-ends.

In addition, one City tennis court is available for public use at Glenhaven Park (Glenhaven Drive at La Granada Way, map) during daylight hours.

All courts are available generally on a first come, first served basis. Reservations may be made in advance (31 days for residents and 60 days for non-residents).

Outdoor Basketball Courts

Four outdoor basketball courts at La Cañada High School are open to the public on weekdays after 5:00 p.m. during the school year (courts are sometimes reserved after 5:00 p.m. for high school basketball related programs).  On weekends, holidays, and during summer non-school days, the basketball courts are available to the public from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., unless reserved.
