for various community uses. While recreational activities are not provided directly by the City,
several sports user groups, the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge, and the
YMCA of the Foothills offer these services to the public, including: T-ball, baseball, basketball, cheerleading, football, soccer, and much more.

These parks provide green space and play opportunities for adults and children.
The Parks & Recreation Commission works with local schools, private and non-profit service providers to ensure that existing recreational services and facilities are made available and are coordinated in order to maximize their use.
There are several
hiking and riding trails
in the City, maintained either by the City or the County of Los Angeles. The City Council has placed a priority on increasing the trail system and vital links in the system are being planned and constructed.
For residents interested in literature, the City also participates with the La Cañada Flintridge One City One Book Committee which selects a single book each year for the community to read and discuss. Seeking works with broad community appeal, the One City One Book Committee chooses primarily from fiction, memoir and history.
