Open Government


The City of La Cañada Flintridge strives to operate in a manner that is both transparent and accountable to the public.  With that as the City's goal, all regular and special City Council and Commission meetings are noticed and open for the public to attend.  In addition, City Council and Commission meeting agendas, reports, and minutes are made available to the public online.  The public is invited and encouraged to attend, listen, and participate at City Council, Commission, or other public meetings.  Please click on the following links for more information on City Council meetings and City commission meetings.

City Council members are elected officers identified in Government Code Section 87200 and file statements of economic interests with the City Clerk's office.  Copies of the statements of economic interests filed by City Council members may be obtained at City Hall or the offices of the California Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) at 428 J Street, Suite 620, Sacramento, CA 95814.  The statements of economic interest for some state and local government agency elected officers may be available in electronic format on the FPPC's website.  

Every year the City produces an Annual Budget & Financial Plan for its fiscal year of July 1 - June 30.  The budget outlines annual revenues and expenditures for the City's operations and capital improvement program.  Also, on an annual basis, the City prepares a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) to present its financial position and operational results of its various funds and accounts.  Each year an audit is performed by an independent firm of licensed certified public accountants to examine the City's financial statements, assess the accounting principles used and significant estimates made, and to determine conformity of the overall financial statement presentations with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as set forth by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).

City Hall is is located at 1327 Foothill Boulevard and is open to serve the public, Monday - Thursday 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, and on Fridays 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.  City staff members are available to the public at City Hall and can also be contacted by phone or email.  The public can also contact the City via Access LCF, the City's online service request system.

In conformance with the Local Government Compensation Report rules set forth by the California State Controller, the City publishes its Salary Resolution on an annual basis.  In addition, the California State Controller publishes City employees' annual compensation.

The California Public Records Act, requires state and local agencies to make their records available for public inspection, unless an exemption from disclosure applies. The act declares that access to information concerning the conduct of the people’s business is a fundamental and necessary right of every person in this state.
