Mayor Rick Gunter

Mayor Rick Gunter is a Los Angeles native whose family moved to La Canada Flintridge in 1977. After graduating from La Canada High School, he earned a Bachelor of Architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He returned with his family to La Canada Flintridge in 2006.

In 2011, Mayor Gunter was appointed to the La Canada Flintridge Planning Commission, where he served for eight years and as chair for half that time. As chair, he led many difficult meetings with patience, respect, courtesy, and thoughtful listening. Parties on all sides of the issues reported they found the process open and fair. Mr. Gunter is passionate about having a local government that is fair, open, and focused on our residents. He has expertise in planning, zoning, development, and fiscal responsibility – and will be using these skills as he serves on the City Council.

Mayor Gunter is a licensed architect who leads the Los Angeles office of an international design firm. His focus is to grow a thriving creative business that designs the very best aviation, office, residential, and hospitality projects in Southern California. Mr. Gunter has personally led many major projects in the region including a terminal expansion at LAX, the West Hollywood Edition Hotel, and SoFi Stadium / Hollywood Park (home of the Rams & Chargers).

Mayor Gunter continues to be involved in many volunteer organizations including San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments, California Contract Cities, St. Bede the Venerable Catholic Church, La Canada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Association, La Canada Flintridge Sister Cities Association, and the College of Architecture & Environmental Design at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Mayor Gunter and his wife Denise met at Cal Poly, and have been married since 1992. Their two children Hannah and Andrew attended La Canada Elementary and La Canada High School. Hannah went on to graduate from University of California Santa Barbara and Andrew from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

Mayor Pro Tem Michael T. Davitt

Mayor Pro Tem Michael Davitt has served on the City Council since 2011. Mayor Pro Tem Davitt has lived in La Cañada Flintridge since childhood. In addition to his full time corporate real estate position, he is a partner in a local business. Mayor Pro Tem Davitt’s public service began in 2003 when he was appointed to the City’s Planning Commission. During this time, he was part of the General Plan update as well as revising codes for more responsible growth in the City. After two terms as a City Commissioner and Planning Commission Chair, he was elected to the City Council in 2011.

Mayor Pro Tem Davitt was re-elected to the City Council in 2015. He has served as Mayor twice during his two terms. Over the years, Mayor Pro Tem Davitt has served on the City Council Hillside & Open Space, Rockridge Terrace, and Specific Plan subcommittees, as well as liaison to the Joint Use Committee. He was also a City Council representative on the Business Support and Development Committee (BSDC), and liaison to the Youth Council. More recently he serves on the Sagebrush Council Advisory Committee and on the YMCA liaison committee.

Mayor Pro Tem Davitt was an instrumental member of the acquisition team for the new City Hall building, leading negotiations and strategy for the much needed new building. He also led the efforts to sell the former city hall building.

Regionally, Mayor Pro Tem Davitt has served on the Executive Board of the California Contract Cities Association (CCCA). He served as Treasurer and then Vice President. This organization is made up of over 72 cities representing over 8 million residents in Southern California. Mayor Pro Tem Davitt served as the Association’s President in 2017. During this time, the Association saw historic growth and became a powerful advocacy voice for cities’ rights. He has been active in both Sacramento and the County for expanding and preserving cities’ rights to contract services.

In addition to his City Council role, Mayor Pro Tem Davitt is the President of the La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Association (2 years). He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Glendale College Foundation and, previously, served on the Board of Directors of Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy. He also served on the Parent Board of St Bede School and served as its President for three years.

Mayor Pro Tem Davitt and his wife Alison have been married for over 30 years and have four children.  They both have been and remain active in many civic and charitable organizations locally and regionally.

Council Member Keith Eich

Council Member Keith Eich was elected to the City Council in March, 2020. Prior to serving on the City Council, he served on the City’s Public Works & Traffic Commission. He has worked as Vice President at LegalZoom since 2011 and previously worked for General Electric and many other companies with a focus on disruptive technology, engineering & operations. In addition to his City Council role, Council Member Eich is an Elder at La Cañada Presbyterian Church and coaches his children’s baseball and softball teams. He also previously served on the Carnegie Mellon University Alumni Association Board and as an Adjunct Professor for graduate students.

Council Member Eich and his wife Lisa were married here in town in 2010 and have three young children. He has educational degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Southern California.

Council Member Kim Bowman

Council Member Kim Bowman is a nonprofit attorney and advocate for older adults who is working to improve the community to make sure it remains inclusive for people at every stage of life.

Mr. Bowman is special counsel for a Los Angeles County nonprofit legal organization where he provides free legal assistance to those harmed by natural disasters and leads the estates and probate program for low-income individuals and families. He also serves as a major in the United States Air Force Reserve and a member of The Judge Advocate General’s Corps.

In addition to his professional public service roles, Mr. Bowman is past president of the Los Angeles County Commission for Older Adults, a former La Cañada Flintridge Parks and Recreation commissioner, co-organizer of the La Cañada Flintridge Welcome Association, and has served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations.

Mr. Bowman holds a law degree from the University of the Pacific, a master’s degree in gerontology (aging) from the University of Southern California, a master’s degree in business administration from Westminster University, and bachelor’s degrees in gender studies and political science from the University of Utah. He is admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States, the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the Air Force Court of Criminal Appeals, the state courts and central district federal court of California, and all state and federal courts in Utah.

Mr. Bowman is married to Cynthia Nguyen, M.D., a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at a nonprofit children’s hospital in Pasadena. Together with their children Alice and Colette, the family makes their home near Glenola Park.

City Council Member Teresa “Terry” Walker

Council Member Walker is a native of Southern California and has been a resident and active member of the La Cañada Flintridge community for the past 36 years.  After retiring in 2010 from a career in Human Resources, she now manages a local family-owned business.  Council Member Walker has had extensive involvement as a volunteer in several community organizations.  She has been a member of the La Cañada Flintridge Guild of Huntington Memorial Hospital since 1986 and served as president in 1994.  She served eight years on the Board of Directors of the YMCA of the Foothills, and three terms as president of the La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce.  In addition, City Council Member Walker has participated on the LCF Business Support and Development Committee since 2003, serving three terms as chair.  In 2008, City Council Member Walker was appointed to the Public Works and Traffic Commission where she served for four years and one term as chair; she also served as a Planning Commissioner for three years and vacated her position there as chair to join the City Council.  Her City Council appointments include participation on the Green Task Force, Solid Waste, Unpermitted Construction, and Parking Subcommittees.
