The Greater Los Angeles County Vector Control District (the District) has confirmed West Nile Virus activity in a mosquito sample collected from La Cañada Flintridge. The virus was detected in mosquitoes collected as a part of the District’s ongoing disease surveillance program in the southeastern portion of the City.
La Cañada Flintridge is served by the District to monitor and control mosquito, aquatic midge, and simulium black fly populations. The District is working to survey the area and has posted warning signs in nearby public places. Residents should be aware of the presence of the West Nile Virus and take appropriate precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
