According to the National Weather Service, a high wind event is possible across the mountains of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, and the Santa Monica Mountains, beginning Thursday evening (10/25) through Friday evening (10/26). Winds could gust to as high as 65 mph in the Los Angeles and Ventura County mountains, and particularly, the Santa Monica Mountains area. High profile vehicles are especially cautioned. Strong winds could result in down trees and power lines and other possible property damage. Residents are reminded to stay clear of downed lines as some may still be electrified and hazardous. The high winds coupled with low relative humidity and dry fuels creates the potential for extreme fire danger. Please take necessary precautions to protect your family and home, such as ensuring an adequate clearance from flammable brush and vegetation at least 200 feet away from structures.
