La Cañada Flintridge, CA – The La Cañada Flintridge City Council voted Tuesday, Oct. 17, to fund an agreement between the City and Ring.com, a video doorbell camera resource. The City is in the process of finalizing the agreement with Ring.com; details are forthcoming.

The proposed program includes funding for a City provided rebate to subsidize the cost to residents for the purchase of video doorbell cameras, which link smartphone users to their doorbell when the camera is activated by either motion sensors or someone ringing the doorbell. Residents can see, hear and speak to visitors through their smartphones, tablets or desktop computers.

With residential burglaries on an uptick throughout southern California, the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station recommends leveraging modern communication resources to enhance the security of local homes.

“Technology is helping us to work smarter and better than the burglars,” says Captain Christopher Blasnek.

Through the City’s Contract Services Agreement incentive program, the City will offer a $50 per household subsidy; Ring.com will match the $50 subsidy for a total rebate of $100, in addition to offering further discounts to residents. The approved, $5,000 subsidy level will enable 100 homes to participate in the program on a first-come-first-served basis.

The promotional offer will begin once the contract is signed. Please check the City’s website for updates and launch date of the program.
