Devil's Gate Reservoir Sediment Removal Project

In an effort to achieve a balance between restoring flood protection to downstream communities and preserving the natural resources of the Hahamongna Watershed, Los Angeles County Public Works will remove 1.7 million cubic yards of sediment over 4 years from the reservoir behind Devil’s Gate Dam. The restoration project will also create over 70 acres of enhanced habitat for wildlife.

On-site Habitat Restoration (November 2018 – April 2019)

Access Road Construction (November 2018 – March 2019)

Vegetation Removal (November 2018 – February 2019)

Sediment Removal (April – November 2019 – 2022)

Monitoring of Air Quality

Per AQMD Rule 403, AQMD will monitor air quality surrounding the Devil’s Gate Sediment Removal Project, at their cost if a sufficient number of complaints/concerns are received on the issue.
